About Us

Hola! My name is Marisa, I was born in Oakland, CA as a second-generation immigrant from Mexico. On my Dad's side, we are from Puebla, MX on my Mom's side we are from Jalisco, MX. While I am a California girl, my roots are strongly planted in my Mexican culture. My mom instilled a love of cooking, baking, and of course, all things sweet. I learned my family's recipes and love sharing them with people.

Las Mañanitas was created out of love, love for family, love for culture, and of course, love for sweets. My family loves to celebrate anything and everything! With special occasions, particularly birthdays, I can remember as a child waking up to my parents singing 'Las Mañanitas. That song brings back the excitement, happiness, and warmth that came from spending my birthday surrounded by people I love.

I want to share that love with this incredible community! All the happiness I feel when I hear Las Mañanitas stays with me as I bake and create new flavors. If I can make any occasion or event even sweeter with these treats, I am truly honored.

Gracias!

-Marisa

Traditional Talavera

Puebla, MX is known for its beautiful talavera-painted ceramics. My family home is decorated with this pottery and is also used in daily meals.

Popocatépetl

This currently active volcano serves as a north star in Puebla, you can see it wherever you are and maybe even a small eruption! I remember my Dad telling me stories of summiting Popo when he was young and the volcano was still considered dormant.

Translating to "Alley of the Frogs" this area adds color and vibrancy to the historical district of Puebla. I can't leave Puebla without visiting this area, it really is a beautiful location with great shopping!
